Emergency Response Plan
The Emergency Response Plan (ERP)
is a valuable tool to which no company should go
without.
The ERP, is the foundation on which responses to
various events inclusive of threats, risks, and
vulnerabilities are carried out. An ERP plan
which does not consider risks or vulnerabilities
is flawed and will have disastrous results.
The elements of your emergency
response plan will be addressed either through
initial development, comprehensive plan review,
or exercise and testing of your current plan
with the goal of evaluating and improving the
current plan and/or revising those procedures
already in place.

|
Development and review will take
into account many common elements which shall be
considered in any plan. In addition, there are
many unique considerations that must be
evaluated and incorporated. Some of the common
plan elements that will be considered are: |
|
• |
Objectives |
|
• |
Functional roles and
responsibilities of internal and external
agencies, organizations, departments, and
positions. |
|
• |
Lines of authority |
|
• |
Logistical support |
|
• |
Process for managing an
incident |
|
• |
Communication and information
flow, internally and externally |
|
• |
Strategic plans |
|
• |
Specific actions or
procedures to be carried out |
|
• |
Prevention, preparedness,
response, mitigation, and recovery actions |
