Eric Morgenthaler is currently a Battalion Chief with the Castle Rock, CO Fire Department and previously worked as a Fire Protection Engineer with BCER Engineering, Inc. in Arvada, CO. Eric's experience in emergency services goes back to 1989. Over his career, he has served as Firefighter, Mechanic’s Assistant, Training Chief, Division/Group Supervisor for the Douglas County Type 4 Incident Management Team, and a Research Technician for International Fire Service Training Association/Fire Protection Publications (IFSTA/FPP) fire service training manuals. In addition, he is an instructor of Incident Command for Structural Collapse Incidents, Command and General Staff Functions in the ICS, NIMS ICS for the Fire Service, and Introduction to Unified Command for Multi-Agency and Catastrophic Incidents for the United States National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, Maryland. Eric also has experience in training program development to include needs analysis, stakeholder involvement, policy analysis, policy and procedure development, training delivery, and program monitoring and evaluation. Eric also has been instrumental in the design and construction of fire training center to include facility design, needs and stakeholder input, site development, bid/RFP process, construction monitoring/project management, acceptance testing, and implementation. In addition, he developed safety and procedural standards for the fire training facility to include training, fee schedule for agency rental, rental agreements for multi-agency use, and scheduling for agency rentals. Eric holds a Bachelors of Science in Engineering Technology from Oklahoma State University and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Colorado. He is certified as a Firefighter II, Fire Officer I & III, Fire Service Instructor I & II, Hazardous Materials Technician, as well as many aspects of Wildland Firefighting. He is an NFPA-Certified Fire Protection Specialist, a certified Fire Safety Inspector, and a certified Emergency Medical Technician. Eric has been featured in Fire/Rescue Magazine and Fire Chief Magazine, and has developed or devised hundreds of test questions for IFSTA/FPP training curricula and programs. |
