SUMMARY DESCRIPTION

Confined space rescue involves the rescue and recovery of victims trapped in confined spaces.  Such spaces include but are not limited to sewer systems, storage silos, underground vaults, storage tanks, and certain transportation vessels.  The principals and strategies involved in successful rescues and mitigation involve a thorough understanding of the potential hazards that exist in this unique environment.  Hazards may include atmospheric deficiencies, hazardous materials, and product engulfment.  These hazards may present a minimal window of opportunity to successfully rescue a victim.  This three ( 3) day program is designed to teach students to successfully mitigate rescue situations that involve victims trapped or lost in confined spaces.  Subject areas include pre-planning, scene evaluation, personnel requirements, specialized equipment, confined space categorization, permit requirements, and victim removal techniques.   All curriculum is designed to be in accordance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.146 and NFPA 1670.
