Learning is supposed to be fun. When we were children, the never-ending wonder of the world provided endless hours of fascination because the world was fun and exciting. Getting snow down the backs of our pants taught us that snow is cold. Burning ourselves with matches taught us that fire was hot. We learned which bugs bite and which bugs don’t bite by either being bitten or not being bitten by various bugs. It was fun, it was exciting, and we learned! This is the Signet Experience.
Somewhere along the line, too many of us forgot how to have fun while learning. In this regard, I learn so much from my children…one slips an ice cube down the other’s back and immediately asks (through screams of laughter from all of them) “What did that feel like?? Was it cold?” or, when seeing a new food, with a scrunched-up little face asking, “What does that taste like?”. They ASK because they don't know and want to experience it, instead of just continuing to not know due to their inexperience. They are not afraid of the unknown: they are FASCINATED by it!
Somehow growing up, too many of us stopped playing and asking questions for fear of looking irresponsible and incompetent, rather than playing and asking questions in order to prove that we want to learn and that we’re intelligent enough to ask.
Each activity/discussion in every single Signet North America course is absolutely applicable to the overall content, even though it may not be necessarily immediately apparent to all at the time.
